Law was arrested March 7 and charged with two counts of sexual battery and two counts of gratification of lust.
MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Former WLBT meteorologist Eric Law's sex crimes trial has been postponed.
The new trial date is Dec. 2, according to an order from the Circuit Court of Madison County.
Law, 32, was indicted April 10 on two counts of sexual battery and two counts of gratification of lust. Law and his attorney Matt Baldridge waived the reading of his indictment April 10. His original trial date was scheduled for July 15.
Law was arrested March 7. He is accused of having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.
According to the three-page indictment, from Nov. 22 through Feb. 25 Law allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a female at least 14 years of age, but younger than 16. The indictment also states that Law, "did willfully, unlawfully, and intentionally [inappropriately] touch" a female child.
According to a Madison police incident report, investigators viewed numerous Facebook messages between the teenager and Law that indicated the two had sexual contact.
According to the report, the Facebook messages indicated Law and the girl had sexual contact, and when investigators interviewed the girl, she confirmed she and Law had been intimate at Law's house in Madison.
According to the report, the girl said she spent the night with Law, and the two would go to the "law and order room" and engage in sexual behavior.
