ADAMS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An Adams County Sheriff's Office search warrant led to seizure of drugs, money and paraphernalia. Deputies and Metro Narcotics agents arrived at Williams Apartments on Aldridge Street with a search warrant at approximately 3 p.m., April 12, after an undercover investigation.

Upon entering the residence, law enforcement officers searched the apartment to find two and a half ounces of high grade marijuana and a felony amount of promethazine codeine, often called "syrup."

During the search of the house, deputies also found a 9-mm handgun, a scale for weighing drugs and approximately $3,000 in cash.

"This case is an example of the hard work that is put in every day by deputies and metro narcotics agents," said Sheriff Mayfield.

Deputies arrested Leon Jones, 32. He is charged with sale of schedule 1 controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1500 ft of a school zone, felony possession of promethazine codeine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Jones was released Tuesday on a $40,000 property bond.
