PUCKETT, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Rankin County Board of Supervisors, the FBI, Crime Stoppers and Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey have increased the reward to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person who robbed a Puckett bank April 20.

Authorities believe the bank robber is from the area or has a connection to the area, according to Sheriff Bailey.

Rankin County deputies responded to the Peoples Bank on Highway 18 April 20. A teller reportedly said a man armed with a small pistol approached her after she unlocked the door to the bank around 8:40 a.m.

According to authorities, the man ordered the teller to unlock the safe, and he put cash in a bag. He then tied up the employee and left her in the bathroom.

The man stole the teller's car and later abandoned it within five miles of the bank at the intersection of Spring Water Ranch Road and Rose Hill Road, according to Bailey.

The teller was able to free herself and call 911.

The robber is described as a while male with blue eyes. Authorities say he's 25 to 35 years old and about 5'11" tall and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and a black bandana covering his face.
