Assistant Principal under investigation in rape case

HOLMES COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Holmes County school official is on administrative leave, and under investigation Wednesday for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old student.

A Probable Cause hearing was held Tuesday for George Lomax, Assistant Principal at J.J. McClain High School. The hearing took place in Holmes County Judge Jannie Lewis' court room.

An assistant at the judge's office confirms the case involves the reported rape of a 16-year-old student, but could not expand upon when or where the crime supposedly took place. Judge Lewis determined Wednesday that enough evidence exists to have the case heard.

Sheriff Willie March says Lomax has not yet been charged, but his office has gotten permission from the judge to draw blood for crime lab testing.

The school district has not commented on the accusation against Lomax.
