It's a feeling no mother every wants to experience: the feeling of terror when your child is missing.
"He was locked up on a bus with no one even looking for him," said Karmesha Brooks. "Windows up, doors closed, doors locked, he could not get out."
Karmesha Brooks says she was terrified when she went to pick up her 5-year-old son Kaden from Raguet Child Care and he wasn't in his classroom.
"They kept arguing with me, telling me that he didn't come to school, he didn't ride the bus, they hadn't seen him at all," Brooks said.
Brooks says staff at the day care pulled the bus record and confirmed her son did ride the bus but nobody knew where Kaden was.
"There was another parent outside and he started yelling and screaming that there was a child locked up on the bus and he couldn't get him out," Brooks said.
Brooks says her son fell asleep on the bus ride from his elementary school to day care.
"He said, 'Mommy I went to the back door and I tried to open it and I couldn't get out,'" Brooks said. "He said I went and I started hitting on the window for somebody to hear me but nobody heard me and I couldn't get out."
Raguet Child Care owner Beth Blackburn she said that she did not want to comment at this time because the investigation is ongoing.
"I think the hardest part was to listen to my child sit here and tell me that he was crying for me and I wasn't there," Brooks said. "He was hitting on these windows and nobody heard him."
Brooks said she is not taking her son back and she hopes the investigation will result in the day care changing their policies because this is not something she and her son will not forget anytime soon.
"That is something that is traumatic for both of us," Brooks said.
The Nacogdoches Police Criminal Investigations Division and child care licensing department with the Department of Family and Protective Services are both investigating the incident.
