Pediatric and heart health professionals from across the country were at University Medical Center Saturday.
The congenital heart conference focused on treatment techniques, the management of patients, and other topics.
More than 1,000 cases have gone through the Children's Heart Center at UMC.
Pediatricians, cardiologists, nurses, and even air care professionals were on hand.
Four pediatric heart transplants have been performed in the three years the program has been at the Jackson Hospital.
Doctors can treat fetuses to young adults.
"One out of a thousand babies is born with a congenital heart defect. That's a very common thing. It's a lot children. They don't all need surgery but that's the actual number. It's exceedingly common," said Dr. Daniel Bibardino, UMC Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon.
"They're here at the University of Mississippi to learn how we do such a good job, and we do, and I want to brag on our physicians. We are leading the nation in this," Gov. Phil Bryant.
