WEST POINT, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Governor Bryant met with Yokohama Tire Company officials Sunday night on the eve of a large celebratory announcement on Monday in West Point.
Friday lawmakers approved an incentive package to seal the deal with the company. This will be the first North American plant Yokohama has built from the ground up.
Industrial tires for trucks and tractors will be made there. Eventually, Yokohama will invest at least $1.1 billion and employ more than 2,000 people in the county with the highest unemployment rate in the state.
