Court ruling causes Music City Center to go over budget

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Tennessee Court of Appeals upheld a jury verdict that says the Metro government vastly underpaid for a key piece of land bought for the Music City Center project.

The ruling was part of a lawsuit between the Metro Development and Housing Authority and Tower investments.

According to the appeals court, the land is worth just over $30 million, but MDHA had only offered about half that figure.

City officials have said they plan to dip into tourism tax collections to make up the difference.
