JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

One Jackson family has been treated to a "Habitat peace of mind" and tonight they are enjoying a new found sense of security, comfort and stability.

Thanks to hard working volunteers, Habitat for Humanity in metro Jackson and her own "sweat equity" Michelle Owens is moving into her new house.

The licensed practical nurse and her two young children once lived in a dilapidated two bedroom rental home. Owens told the crowd Monday,

"It means stability and peace of mind knowing it that I own my own home and I have a place for my children to actually call home versus renting someone else's property,"said Owens.

The volunteers took part in Healthcare Build 2013. It's a first time collaboration among four medical institutions to build this habitat home on Englewood street.
