Mississippi Supreme Court stays Manning execution

A warmer election day afternoon in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with Tuesday's look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

The Mississippi Supreme Court has issued a stay in the execution of Willie Jerome Manning. The stay was issued a little more than four hours before his scheduled execution. The stay is in effect until the court issues a further order.

Plus, voters across Mississippi are headed to the polls for municipal primary elections with some of the toughest primaries in Jackson, Madison and Vicksburg.

And, a Ridgeland teenager was arrested at the Rankin County prison for allegedly trying to bring marijuana into the facility while visiting a family member.
