JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Four people apprehended during a manhunt Thursday appeared in municipal court Friday morning.

Derrick Garner, 21, Lashawn Hudson, 18, Demarcus Henry, 17, and Tommie Young, 17, are facing numerous felony charges ranging from carjacking, armed robbery, house burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle. They were all denied bond.

Police say they are continuing to investigate and more charges are pending.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the manhunt for the group Thursday afternoon. The nearly two-hour search was concentrated south of Interstate 20 along the Pearl River.

"We've been able to get four thugs that have been terrorizing parts of Jackson off the streets," said Jackson Assistant Police Chief Lee Vance.

The four suspects fled on foot after crashing a stolen vehicle during a chase.

Vance said it all started Thursday afternoon when officers spotted a vehicle believed to be connected to a house burglary. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a chase ensued. The suspect vehicle, a Pontiac G6, crashed in the median of I-20 near the stack and four suspects fled on foot.

A Hinds County deputy reportedly spotted the suspects traveling south on the Pearl River levee. Officers didn't believe the young men would try to swim across the flooded river. The only other hiding place would have a been narrow strip of trees.

"Our SWAT team did a grid search of the wooded area until they found those four suspects," explained Vance.

Officers discovered the Pontiac was stolen during a carjacking about a week ago, according to Vance. A loaded pistol was also found in the vehicle.

"We have a very, very good SWAT team. We've got very, very good cooperation between law enforcement agencies in this area, and we got out and did what the people pay us to do and that's to lock up the bad guys," Vance said.
