JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police say a traffic stop during a "city-wide sweep" led to the arrest of two men on drug charges Thursday.

Police say 28-year-old Aaron Barnes was riding a motor scooter and committed a traffic violation in the 3900 block of Mesilla Drive.

Officers obtained a search warrant for Barnes' nearby residence where they reportedly found a pound of marijuana, weighing scales, a stolen handgun and $776. The marijuana has a street value of $800, according to police.

The Glock .40 caliber had been reported stolen in Smith County.

A second man, 26-yaer-old Quinterius Barnes, was also arrested. Both men were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a stolen handgun.
