JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The movie theater going up inside the District at Eastover off Frontage Road and Eastover Drive won't be a multi-plex with 14 movie screens, says Ted Duckworth of Duckworth Realty.

"More of a boutique theater. Four or five screens, unique experience," he says.

Architectural renderings show that the project will also include residential units, office space, a hotel, and a variety of retail stores that are undetermined right now.

"We're going to this shopping center convention next week, trying to get this resolution approved so we can negotiate with potential tenants," he says.

On Tuesday, the Jackson City Council approved an intent to issue $7 million in bonds for the project. It's a step that Duckworth says is crucial so developers can negotiate with potential tenants.

Ground should be broken over the summer, and Duckworth says tenants and residents should start moving in in the Fall.
