Lee gets endorsement for Jackson Mayor

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

More support is thrown behind democratic candidate Jonathan Lee. This comes on the heels of an endorsement by city of Jackson Councilman Frank Blunston who was ousted in the Democratic Primary election for mayor of Jackson.

District 68 Representative Credell Calhoun told reporters Wednesday he stands behind the Jackson businessman. Calhoun is a familiar face in the Jackson political arena. Calhoun told reporters "[Lee] listens and his youthfulness gives him the energy to make things happen in the city of Jackson."

Lee faces Councilman Chokwe Lumumba in a runoff election May 21. The winner of that runoff race will face an independent candidate in the General Election June 4.

Lumumba received an endorsement from Regina Quinn, who was ousted from the mayor's race in the Democratic Primary race. Quinn supports Lumumba's pledge to bring jobs to Jackson businesses and equal pay for women.
