WILKINSON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Multiple agencies are searching for a boater who went missing in Wilkinson County Wednesday morning.
According to Wilkinson County Sheriff Reginald Jackson, two men went fishing in the Fort Adams area around 6:45 a.m. The men were in a high, marshy area where Lake Mary and Mississippi River meet when the boat hit something.
The sheriff says both men fell out of the boat. Morris Nettles managed to swim to safety, but Quinton Barrow, 21, reportedly had trouble swimming because his boots filled with water.
Nettles tried to pull Barrow to safety but was unsuccessful. He went under and hasn't been seen since, Jackson said.
Nettles called for help around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The search for Barrow continues.
