(WMC-TV) - While Beale Street prepares for a busy barbecue fest weekend a popular Beale Street club is closed for business.
The Shelby County District Attorney General indicted five Club 152 employees. Police are still searching for them, and names and pictures are not available.
"Do I think 152's a nuisance? No, I do not. I personally do not," said Miss Polly's owner and Beale Street Merchants Association president Ty Agee. "Actually, I do enjoy them as a neighbor."
District Attorney Amy Weirich said undercover officers witnessed repeated drug sales by employees. Also that 130 calls were made to police from the club in the past 16 months.
Agee estimates that only FedExForum has more people walk through is doors annually than Club 152.
"If they had 130 plus calls, and they've been checking it from January to now, that's not very many when you consider that many people running through there," he said. "They've got a few bad employees. That's a great ownership group over there. They will fix this problem. And I'm sure they will be able to work it out with the city and the government and fix this got re-opened."
Agee said Club 152 has been voted a top-100 club in the country the past two years.
The owners are due in environmental court Monday morning.
