FAYETTE COUNTY, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Two murder suspects are on the run after investigators said they killed a man in a neighborhood just a few miles outside of Oxford.

Crime tape marks the spot a murder investigation is underway in a usually quiet West Springhill community.

"It's a big shock to everybody, I know it's a big shock to me," said resident Jeff Price.

It all started when Xavier Benson was reported missing on Sunday. A body was found by a house on Tuesday.

People fear it is Benson. He is a young man in his 20s from nearby Water Valley where he used to play football for the high school.

Investigators are waiting on an autopsy, but neighbors said something was not right Saturday evening.

"My wife and kids said that they heard some arguing ... Along with the arguing they thought they heard a gunshot, but they didn't think nothing about it until last night when they heard that a body was found," said neighbor Darell King.

Anthony Smith and Alison Alexander are the two suspects on the run. Alexander has an Illinois address, but the two are from the area.

A third man, Robert Smith, lived in the home. He is related to Anthony Smith. Robert Smith is in jail charged with accessory after the fact, apparently for not cooperating when he was first questioned. People living near the scene remain a little uneasy until everyone is caught.

"I got an elderly Dad here, you know what I'm saying, and it's kind of got me wondering now because sometimes I have to leave and go to work and I'm kind of afraid for my Dad," said Price.

Sheriff's deputies believe Smith and Alexander could be anywhere and want the public to get a good look at their faces.

If you know anything about either suspect, call Investigator Alan Wilburn at the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office at 662-234-6421 or CrimeStoppers at 662-234-TIPS.
