JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
One of the men accused in an armed robbery at a Jackson church last week is facing new charges.
Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department says Terrance Lee, 19, is now facing another four counts of armed robbery of an individual in connection with holds ups outside St. Richard Catholic Church June 13.
Lee was already facing three counts of armed robbery of an individual in connection to robberies at Northminster Baptist Church on Ridgeway Road June 17.
Lee and Donuvan Beddingfield, 21, who is also facing three counts of armed robbery of an individual in the Northminster Baptist robberies, were denied bond Friday afternoon.
Jackson police say Lee and Beddingfield were captured on a convenience store security camera using stolen credit cards.
Officers reportedly discovered Lee and Beddingfield driving the black Camaro that was also caught on surveillance video at the convenience store and that police believe was used during the robbery.
A Camaro fitting the description was spotted in the church parking lot Monday night just before two men robbed at least four people. Two black males got out of the car, one with a handgun. The man pointed the gun at the victims while the other took cell phones, wallets and cash. No one was injured.
The two men were last seen traveling north on Ridgewood Road.
A similar armed robbery happened at St. Richard Church on Lynnwood Drive in Jackson June 13. Police say four women were standing outside the church when they were robbed by two black men.
Members of both churches say they have increased security measures in light of the recent crimes. JPD Assistant Chief Lee Vance says the offenders appear to be targeting people lingering outside churches.
Officer Colendula Greens adds that 10 churches have been broken into within Jackson since the beginning of the year.
