The robots are coming--and they want jobs. Here's what the experts say will happen by the year 2025.
A recreational activity from a by-gone era is making a comeback thanks to places like Skate N Shake. The tone is set as-soon-as you pull-up to Skate N Shake, in Jackson Square, on Terry Road.
The design on the window from local artist Prissy Paintbrush says it all.
"I told her just do something funky, something wild, just give it a splash of coolness," said owner Shanetha Lewis.
the cool vibe continues inside. Skate N Shake opened last August and with an arcade and lounge in addition to the roller rink. Lewis' goal is to have something for everyone.
"We're trying to attract all ages, because it's a little bit of everything for everyone to do," said Lewis. Skating is fun."
And it's all about the wheels. Now that summer has started, daycares across the metro take advantage of any air conditioned activities, especially those that keep children active.
"It feels good to give them that type of outlet," said manager Lateasha Finch. "We're glad that we can bring something to the city of Jackson."
A crowd of kids is a testament to how far Skate N Shake has come. A little more than a year ago, it was a vacant warehouse. Now transformed, Lewis can't help but think big about the future.
"Make something larger, bring something now to the city of Jackson that's never been introduced," said Lewis. "That's still in the making, so."
We'll just have to wait and see, but for now, Lewis and her team of 13 employees are on a roll.
