Hinds supervisor ready to fill vacant positions

Posted: Updated:
HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hinds County Supervisor Kenneth Stokes appears to be ready to fill two positions on the board of supervisors.

District two Supervisor Doug Anderson died in April and District four Supervisor Phil Fisher will soon become the mayor of Clinton. That will leave two vacant seats on the board.

Stokes says the move is necessary to ensure each district has representation while supervisors craft a budget.

"I want to make sure that the person that we vote for would not run for the position to give that person an unfair advantage against others who will run. So, I would vote at the next meeting for someone to fill district two and if the board feels that district four needs to be filled at that point, I would support that also," Stokes said.

Stokes says he wants those appointed to serve until a special election is set.
