House passes Medicaid reauthorization bill

A hot Thursday afternoon in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

The Mississippi House has voted 93-23 to keep the state's Medicaid program alive beyond this coming weekend, when the current budget year comes to an end.

Also, Diallo Vaughn, the 17-year-old charged with capital murder in a fatal shooting that occurred during a possible carjacking and kidnapping, has been denied bond in his initial court appearance.

Plus, the cities of Vicksburg and McComb have adopted bans on guns on city property days before changes to Mississippi's gun laws take effect.

And, three more companies have ended their relationship with Southern celebrity chef Paula Deen.
