The Jackson Mayor-Elect Inaugural Celebration Committee announces The People's Inaugural Ceremony and Celebration schedule for Monday, July 1, 2013.  Monday's events are free and open to the public and are the culmination of four days of citywide celebrations commemorating the election and inauguration of Mayor Chokwe Lumumba. 

8:00 am  An Inaugural Prayer Service at Word and Worship Church with Bishop Jeffrey Stallworth presiding and other esteemed metro-Jackson clergymen offering prayer and words of spiritual inspiration to Mayor-Elect Lumumba and other elected official attendees. 

12:00 pm The People's Inaugural Ceremony will be held at the Jackson Convention Complex.  This swearing –in ceremony will be followed by a light reception and receiving line at the same location.  Congressman Bennie G. Thompson will be officiating. Special guests include Myrlie Evers-Williams and a performance by the Mississippi Mass Choir.

7 pm People's Inaugural Celebration at the Jackson Convention Complex. This sit down dinner event will feature musical performances and speeches by local and national civic leaders.  Evelyn Reed, KIXIE 107's Jazzy DJ, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.
