COLLIERVILLE, TN -

(WMC-TV) - In two weeks, Johnny Cash will be memorialized with his own stamp. The Forever stamp will be unveiled at the Collierville Post Office.

The Memphis area was home to "The Man in Black" for many years. On July 16, Johnny Cash's nephew will be at the stamp unveiling, offering up a few words about his famous uncle.

J.R. is what Roy Cash, Jr. called his dad's brother. But the rest of the world knew him as Johnny Cash.

"He was just the most genuine, down-to-earth, humble, just salt of the earth guy you ever knew," said Roy.

Roy Cash Jr. retired from the U.S. Navy where he had a distinguished career as a fighter pilot and naval commander. Johnny and June Cash celebrated his accomplishments. Even before that, as a young man, Roy considered a singing career as Roy Rivers. Johnny Cash was in the studio to help him record. Roy even wrote one of his uncle's songs featured on the live album "At Folsom Prison".

"The number four song on side one is the song that I wrote," said Roy. "It's called 'I Still Miss Someone'."

Roy is proud of his uncle and his ties to Memphis. He is honored to be speaking at the stamp unveiling.

"For many years, this was his home," explained Roy, Jr. "He started at Sun Records. He lived in the Walnut Grove area. This was his base of operations for many years."

The Johnny Cash Forever stamp will be unveiled for the first time in Collierville on July 16. Roy Cash plans to recite a poem that his uncle wrote on the bicentennial about the American Flag called "Ragged old flag".
