Police impersonator threatens arrest in ID theft attempt

Friday afternoon has arrived with some clouds across the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

A police impersonator is trying to steal the identities of Metro area residents by claiming to be a Hinds County Deputy and threatening victims with immediate arrest if they do not provide information needed.

Scammers are also targeting Entergy customers. The Better Business Bureau says victims are contacted by phone and told their service is about to be disconnected.

And, U.S. employers added a robust 195,000 jobs in June and many more in April and May than previously thought. The job growth suggests a stronger economy and means the Federal Reserve could slow its bond purchases as early as September.
