"It is very frustrating. Somebody needs to come out here and cleanup this stuff."
"We have a lot of big ole rats. They are about the size of cats."
Neighbors say all of these problems stem from overgrown abandoned properties
Overgrown lots in south Jackson seem to be a growing problem and neighbors say nothing is being done to clean them up.
"We have a lot of big ole rats," said Mary Martin. "They are about the size of cats. They have snakes, black and yellow snakes."
"Rats, roaches, raccoons, possums, you name it, it's coming from over there," said another neighbor.
Neighbors say all of these problems stem from overgrown abandoned properties on and near Grandview Circle in South Jackson.
"I have a bunch of children. I am afraid for them to be outside playing because they have a lot of vagrants that's come," said Martin. "People standing behind trees. They left all of the debris there and we really need to get someone out here ASAP."
One neighbor who didn't want to be on camera says when she looks out of her front window she sees an overgrown abandoned house, and a pile of wood and a house frame is what she has to look at next door.
"It's an eyesore," said the neighbor. "It makes your area look bad. You know you pass by houses, then you get down here and there's a half of a house sitting there. I don't think that's right."
"It is very frustrating. Somebody needs to come out here and cleanup this stuff," said Robert Martin.
Neighbors say they have reached out to members of the city of Jackson for a couple of years but nothing has been done to cleanup their neighborhood.
"We just need some help. We need help," said Martin.
"Nobody's been out here, nobody's asked a question," said another neighbor. "Just get out here and clean up this mess."
