JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man facing a murder charge is busted with drugs in the capital city.

Jackson Police say Cedric Ratliff had almost half a pound of marijuana in his possession. He was brought out of a home at 1434 Cox Street.

Officers believe the marijuana has a street value of about $1,000.

Approximately $1,000 in cash was also recovered.

Ratliff will now face drug charges. He's charged in connection with the 2012 shooting death of 15-year-old Edward Evans.

At the time of Ratliff's arrest, family claimed the 26-year-old was protecting himself from a group of men trying to break into his house.

Evans was shot in the face, according to investigators.

Ratliff had been free on a $50,000 bond.
