JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

One of Jackson's own, Justis Gibbs, was sworn in as the next Teen president at the 57th Annual Jack and Jill Southeastern Region Teen Leadership Conference in Birmingham, Alabama. The theme of this year's conference was- "Standing Strong, Wise and Talented". It was held June 26-30, 2013. 600 teens representing 41 chapters selected Justis from among three other candidates for this prestigious position.

Justis is the immediate past president of the Jackson, MS., Jack and Jill Chapter. The Teen Conference works with chapters across the southeast region to focus on activities centered around leadership development, cultural exposure, literacy, community service and the opportunity to compete in performing arts, athletics, academic and various other areas.

Justis is a graduate of Leadership Jackson, has appeared in commercials for Gear Up Ms and on the New Stage Theatre professional stage. He is a senior at Murrah High School and serves as the Student Body President. He is the son of attorneys Robert and Debra Gibbs and brother to Ariana.
