he national contest has been held in the month of January over the last few years in Las Vegas. It is moving back to the original site, Atlantic City.
Rick says she is already focusing on representing this state to the best of her ability.
She talked with us about her plans at her first official press conference Sunday at the pageant office in Vicksburg.
"They were such wonderful deserving young ladies and I'm just so thankful that I was able to rise to the top. And I see that as an obligation that I have to make sure that I represent, not only myself, but them as well and all of their hard work," Rick said.
There have been four state representatives who won the title of Miss America, the last was in 1986.
Rick says it is time to bring the crown back to the Magnolia state. She hopes Mississippians will tune in to support her during the Miss America pageant on September 15.
