There is not a moment to spare for the newly crowned Miss Mississippi. Chelsea Rick who was Miss Amory Railroad Festival, just has a few weeks to prepare for the Miss America Pageant. The last Miss Mississippi to win the national title was in 1986, but Rick is hoping to change that.
This was a dream come true for Chelsea Rick. After competing five times she won the crown of Miss Mississippi. She held her first press conference Sunday in Vicksburg.
"I'm not a beauty pageant girl by any means," said Rick. This title is, its not about the title, its about a conduit to serve the people of this state and I'm so honored to do that."
Rick says she watched her mother suffer with fibromyalgia and that motivated her to study medicine.
"My mom has always suffered stemming from a bow and arrow accident when she was a little girl," said Rick. She's always had some chronic medical problems and growing up in that atmosphere I saw what a detriment pain can be to quality of life."
Rick was the only contestant to win a swimwear and talent preliminary.

The Top 10 Saturday night included, Miss Mississippi State, Jasmine Murray, Miss Heartland, Breanne Ponder, Miss Southern Heartland, Jessica Terrill, Miss North Central Mississippi, Adrian Turner, and Miss Historic South, Shelby Corn.
