VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Vicksburg Police Department has upgraded charges against two men to second degree murder. The charges were upgraded when Dale Adams, Jr. died from injuries he received during a July 1 fight.

Eighteen-year-old Kyle Hall and 22-year-old Justin Kirkley were originally arrested July 11 and charged with aggravated assault. Both assaulted Adams during the fight after they argued about how Adams was driving. Bond for both was initially set at $75,000, but with the upgraded charges they are being held without bond.

Mississippi's murder statute was amended during the 2013 legislature to establish first and second degree murder charges. First degree murder is defined as premeditated and second degree murder as being of depraved heart or the heat of passion.
