RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Rankin County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help in identifying a man who robbed a Subway restaurant Friday.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies and Reservoir police responded to the Subway on Spillway Road after getting a report of a strong arm robbery around 5 p.m. Friday.

The victim said a man walked into the business and placed an order for food. When the food was made, the customer reportedly said he forgot his wallet and went out to his car to get it.

According to the sheriff's office, after the customer went to his vehicle, he came back to the counter, put his hand in his pocket and told the victim he had a gun. He never displayed a weapon.

He then told the victim to open the cash register, and the robber took money from it, according to police. The man fled the scene in a tan car. He was last seen traveling east on Spillway Road.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10" to 6', 225 to 250 pounds, 30 to 40 years old, brown eyes, bald or little hair, and he had a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a red polo type shirt, khaki pants and black shoes.

Authorities believe he was driving a 2002-2004 tan Ford Taurus.

If you have any information on this crime or suspect please contact the Rankin County Sheriff's Department at 601-825-1480 or Crime stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8447).
