She is sporting a new hair cut and hoping she is also about to start a new life with a permanent family on this week's Wednesday's Child. 12-year-old Chelsey says she has been waiting all her life for someone to give her a chance.
Chelsey is very bright and loves doing new things like trying her hand at art at Easely Amused in Ridgeland. She enjoys indoors and engaging in family like activities.
"I'm a pretty good person, for the most part. When I get mad sometimes I try to use good coping skills. Tell me about some of your good coping skills you use. I like to a paint, I like to draw", Chelsey said.
Being the center of attention makes Chelsey happy. She wants to help out in the kitchen and sometimes even offers to clean. She spends a great deal of time reading books.
"I like to go out to movies, to the movies", said Chelsey.
Chelsey can be very positive, but has had issues with her weight. She needs reassurance, and positive encouragement. She says she wants to be a nurse.
"I want to help people, when they're sick I would like to cure them", Chelsey told us.
Finding the right family is important to Chelsey and she wanted to make sure adoption means you stay put once you are placed with a family. She explained why she wants her own family .
"Because I think that I've been in facilities almost all my life and I think I've gone through my problems and I think that I'm ready. Like when I have my moments, I want them to be able to understand why I'm having them, and I want them to be able to talk to me, to help me get out of my moment", explained Chelsey.
Social workers say Chelsey needs a family who can give her stability, patience and the understanding that once she is with them, she truly is home.
