Posted: Updated:

A pedestrian, struck and severely injured by a motorist in Pearl last week, remains at UMC but his condition has been upgraded.

The condition of Robert Allen Fly, age 49, has been upgraded from serious to fair.

Pearl Police say Fly was hit by 23-year-old Shawn Roberts of Pelahatchie. Roberts bonded out of the Rankin County Jail. He's charged with felonious leaving the scene of an accident.

Pearl Police say on the morning of July 22, Fly was walking on the Frontage Road that runs along Westbound Highway 80. He was struck, and the motorist fled the scene.

Police collected evidence from the scene, including a rear view mirror that led them to Roberts' Pontiac Montana.

The case will now go to a grand jury.
