Monday was judgment day for America's pastime. Punishments were handed down to Major League Baseball players linked to performance-enhancing drugs.
Altogether, 18 players were suspended. Those suspensions were on the minds of many Mud Hens fans as they watched the team battle the Columbus Clippers.
Most fans were focused on the game and the fun, but others were disgusted by what the MLB players were punished for.
Mike Larimer, from Rossford, was there with his sons Austin, 12, and Cayden, 6. Larimer says it's tough to think about the players cheating, but he also has to explain performance-enhancing drugs to his boys.
"You tell him the truth and tell him they're playing illegally and there are consequences for it," Larimer said. "Obviously it was handed down, and hopefully it cleans it up again."
Fans appreciated the hard work the Mud Hens put into their game, and they are pleased the suspensions were handed down. When the big stars aren't playing by the rules, fans believe it is a black mark on the game.
Although there were many Tigers jerseys and shirts at the game, no one was wearing the number of any suspended player.
