JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson woman says she is working to get her identity back after her sister stole it.

Ashlee Bell says her sister, 30-year-old Emily Johnson, used her social security number when she was arrested as part of Operation Cross Country -- a drug and prostitution bust -- last week in Jackson.

Johnson has since been re-arrested and is now in a Mississippi Department of Corrections facility. She's facing possession of cocaine charges.

Bell said she knows why her sister used her information -- because it's easy and to get herself off the hook. The two sisters' birth dates are the same day and month, and their social security numbers are just one digit different.

Bell said this isn't the first time her sister has used her identity. Six months ago Johnson was arrested on prostitution charges in New Orleans and used her sister's name, Bell said.

Bell said the experience has been humiliating and stressful, especially because she's in the process of trying to get a passport to go on her honeymoon in September.

Bell has received a letter from JPD indicating that the arrest made under her name was incorrect.
