TERRY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Terry Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at Terry Drugs. The robbery happened Wednesday night just after 6 p.m. Employees at the drug store say two black men came to the back door of the store and held the owner at gunpoint.

Less than 24 hours after being tied up and robbed at gunpoint, pharmacist and owner Lambert Lane was back at work Thursday.

"They held a gun up to him and they tied him up. They told him they wanted the drugs. Like he was on his knees and they took his wallet, took his phone I mean everything. They took all the money," said Terry Drugs employee Clair Myers.

The back door is where Myers says the two men came in the store. She says Lane was the only person inside the store. Myers says not only did they steal a large quantity of narcotics, they also ripped out the surveillance system.

"I mean they had to have been watching us. They knew our routine. They saw our last person pull out. And as soon as our last person pulled out they walked in," Myers said.

Debbie Bryant has owned the Terry Barber Shop next to Lane's drug store for more than 20 years. She says as the two men approached Lane, he quickly pulled the silent alarm notifying police he was in danger.

"One thing we are mostly upset about is our police department, our local police department. Two other police departments got here before Terry Police Department, which is like a half mile down the street," Debbie Bryant said.

Bryant said it is a miracle Lane was not severely injured.

"This entire town and even people outside of town love Mr. Lane. He has been a part of this town, apart of our lives for a long time. We are a small town and if you hurt one of us, you hurt us all," says Bryant.

Terry Police Chief Coleman said officers made it to Terry Drugs in minutes after the silent alarm was pushed. Coleman says the investigation is ongoing at this time.

The men stole narcotics and an unknown amount of money, according to the employees.

The store was back open Thursday, and the owner was helping customers as usual.
