JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Residents of a Jackson neighborhood say every time they get a heavy rain their front yards and driveways disappear underwater.

We took a look at Holloman Avenue last spring following some heavy rainfall. Most of the flash flooding had receded. But earlier in the day, it consumed the front yards and submerged the driveways of several homes on either side of the street.

The man who lives at 1342 Holloman Ave., is bedridden and requires an ambulance for transport to dialysis three times weekly. His granddaughter says this presents a huge problem.

"They have to pull over on side of the street. Even so it's still difficult for them to maneuver around trying to get in the house get him out and get him back to the vehicle," said the granddaughter. "We want the city to get on their job and come out and so something about this. It's a hassle. It's a major problem. I can't get out of my driveway without fear of hitting the ditch."

The city gave it a look several months ago, but the problem continues according to the landlord.

Our calls to the Mayor's office were not returned Monday.
