3 arrested for drugs at Pearl safety checkpoint

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Pearl police say three men are facing charges after drugs were found in their vehicle at a safety checkpoint Thursday night.

It happened on Old Brandon Road off Highway 80 near Pearson Road. A safety checkpoint was set up for the holiday weekend.

The unidentified men are charged with possession of a controlled substance. The Honda Accord they were traveling in was confiscated.

Sgt. Archie Bennett with the Pearl Police Department said the substance is believed to be methamphetamine. Bennett said they also found marijuana.

Safety checkpoints will be set up throughout the city during the Labor Day weekend.
