JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Hinds County coroner has released the identity of the 22-year-old who was shot and killed at the Camelot Apartments in Jackson Saturday morning.

Sharon Grisham Stewart says a preliminary report revealed Marqual Hill, of Jackson, was shot four times. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Jackson police have officially charged a man with capital murder in the case after he confessed to Mississippi News Now cameras.

Michael Fields, 21, told WLBT and Fox 40 that two men attempted to rob him outside of his Camelot Apartment on Friday night. Fields said he fired a shot at them and they ran away. Fields claims he called JPD that night, but they never arrived.

Then, Saturday morning Fields was leaving his apartment when the two suspected armed robbers approached him again. Fields says he doesn't know the men who tried to take his money, but he has an idea of why he was targeted. That's one reason fields claims he was only protecting himself, in an interview you'll only see on WLBT and Fox 40.

"I guess that's why they tried to rob me because I got my first check. It's self defense. I could've been dead or anything. I calling, steady calling the police and then I come out and see the same guys and the police ain't answer; what you'll do," Fields said.

A bystander was also shot at the apartment but is expected to recover.
