Holiday weekend burdened by bad wrecks

Good morning and happy Labor Day from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles!

If you're up early on this holiday it's 77 degrees and a typical Mississippi summer day is on tap. Hot, with a chance for scattered thunderstorms. Meteorologist Michael Haynes will give us the goods in his First Alert Forecast.

Happening now, law enforcement officials and highway patrolmen are investigating several bad crashes, some were fatal, throughout central Mississippi over the holiday weekend.

And, Darius Rucker helped Mississippians celebrate the Labor Day weekend with a concert in Ridgeland last night. We'll bring you highlights of the big show.

Meanwhile, President Obama and the U.S. Congress are weighing their options on what to do about alleged chemical weapons attacks in Syria.

All those stories and much more are headed your way at the top of the hour.

Join us from 5 to 7 and for more Mississippi News Now check us out on Fox 40 from 7 to 9.

Have a great final day of the extended holiday weekend!
