Holmes County Jail has contraband problem

A very hot "hump day" Wednesday afternoon in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

The Holmes County Sheriff's Department has recovered several bags of contraband left behind the jail overnight, including basketballs stuffed with drugs.

Plus, an armed man robbed the Dollar General Store at Raymond and Siwell Roads just after 8:30 this morning.

Also, the Rankin County coroner confirms one of the children involved in the accident with an 18-wheeler on Highway 49 near Star Sunday has died.

And, a discolored water alert has been issued for the City of Jackson water system.

In sports, a spotlight on Ole Miss football.

Broken clouds and 97 degrees in the metro. Don't miss your full First Alert Forecast.
