USC falls to No. 13 in latest AP poll, Clemson up one spot to No. 3

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

After losing to the Georgia Bulldogs 41-30, the Gamecocks fell seven spots to No. 13 in the latest Associated Press college football poll released Sunday.

"I have to give Georgia credit," USC Head Coach Steve Spurrier said. "They ran it right down their throat. Vince Dooley probably has a smile on his face with the way that they played… I thought we could slow them down, and when we did, we gave up a big play. It was a tough day for all of us today."

Alabama remains at No. 1 in both the AP and USA Today poll.

In the AP poll, Oregon is No. 2, Clemson moved up a spot to No. 3 and Ohio State slipped one to No. 4. Stanford remains No. 5.

Clemson cornerbacks Martin Jenkins and Darius Robinson had interception returns for touchdowns in the first half as the third-ranked Tigers turned a tight game into a 52-13 blowout over FCS opponent South Carolina State on Saturday.

The Gamecocks will host Vanderbilt at home Saturday. Kickoff time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Clemson will travel to Raleigh, N.C. Sept. 19 to face North Carolina State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
