JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police say two men are facing charges after officers intercepted a package with $25,000 worth of marijuana at the downtown Jackson post office.

According to Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department, the Vice and Narcotics Unit received information from a confidential source that drugs were being sent from Los Angeles to Jackson via the U.S. Postal Service.

Once the package arrived, the U.S. Postal Inspector informed investigators and JPD's K-9 unit alerted on the package. After officers obtained a search warrant, they discovered eight pounds of marijuana in five vacuum-sealed packages inside the box.

Kentrell Montrell Robinson, 21, and Orlando Mims, 22, both of Jackson, have been charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Green said no federal charges will be filed because the weight didn't reach the federal prosecution guideline of 100 pounds.
