JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A federal jury found an Atlanta man guilty Wednesday of having sex with a 3-year-old girl at a Jackson motel and video taping the assault.

Following a two-day trial, Marco Laquin Rogers, 27, was convicted of human trafficking of a minor and production of child pornography.

Jurors watched the recording of the assault during the trial.

"People should not be subjected to what we had to see," an alternate told Mississippi News Now.

Prosecutors say Rogers acquired the child from her uncle, who was taking care of her in Memphis, on a promise that he would take her to a party.

Instead, Rogers drove her to a motel room in Jackson where the men videotaped the assault.

Rogers will be sentenced Dec. 12 by U. S. District Judge David Bramlette. The penalty for human trafficking of a minor child is a minimum of 15 years and up to life in prison. The maximum penalty for production of child pornography is 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The child is now safe with her family.

Another man, Jemery Hodges, pleaded guilty to the same charges in June.
