New West Nile cases reported

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mississippi now has a total of 30 human West Nile Virus (WNV) cases. New cases are reported this week in  Hinds, Jones, and Madison counties.

Additionally, the Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting one human case of LaCrosse encephalitis in Warren County. LaCrosse encephalitis is a mosquito-borne virus.

The counties reporting WNV so far this year are Bolivar, Forrest (3), Hinds (10), Jones (2), Lamar (3), Leflore (2), Lincoln, Lowndes, Madison (2), Marion, Rankin (3) and Wayne.
