The Mississippi Office of the State Auditor is investigating whether a Rankin County School District employee was getting paid while not at work.
On Wednesday morning, the Rankin County School Board met and voted 3-2 to hire Phelps-Dunbar to represent them in the matter. Board President Cecil McCrory and board member Grumpy Farmer were the two dissenting votes.
The employee works in the district office. The name of the employee has not been released.
All of the court documents pertaining to the investigation are sealed.
