RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Convicted sex offender Edward Sullivan, who faces more than 70 years behind bars, remains in jail with no bond. This comes after Sullivan waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in Rankin County.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Sullivan, who was on probation, was driving drunk with five children in the car when he crashed into an 18 wheeler on Highway 49.

This wreck happened in September and resulted in the death of one child. Another has serious injuries and a third child suffered a broken bone. Those children range in ages 5-12.

All five children are the grand children of Sullivan's ex girlfriend.

The case will now go to the grand jury.
