The Grambling State University football team protested problems with their football program by not showing up for their game Saturday with Jackson State.
These young men were trying to make a point, but I am afraid that they have only damaged Grambling's football program even more. Grambling wasn't the only one hurt by their no show.
Home games are critically important for colleges. Jackson State University lost $500,000 in ticket sales, students and alumni had several homecoming events planned and local businesses lost sales from visitors who canceled their trip to Jackson.
Playing college football in exchange for a college education is a privilege that Grambling players should have honored. Quitters never win and winners never quit.
