Hinds County has 15 days to solve jail crowding problems

Feels like fall for a change on this "hump day" Wednesday afternoon in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

U. S. Magistrate Judge David Sanders has signed an order, giving Hinds County 15 days to correct crowding problems at the detention center or the county will no longer be allowed to house state inmates.

In Rankin County, a three-vehicle crash kills one person and injures three others. It happened off Highway 475, near Reuben Brown Road, just before noon.

Plus, the inmate mistakenly released from jail in Pike County is back in custody. Douglas Stevenson was found early Wednesday morning in Kenner, Louisiana.
