Former fire chief in court; alleged misconduct with minor

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The second day of trial for former Star Fire Chief Steven Lee Boggs is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in Rankin County Court.

According to District Attorney Michael Guest, 55 year-old Boggs was charged with gratification of lust.

Boggs was charged after an alleged incident with a minor under 18.

Guest said the alleged crime happened sometime between May 1, 2009 and June 30, 2009. Boggs was accused of a similar crime prior to this incident.

When court picks up Wednesday morning additional witnesses called by the state will take the stand and testimony will continue. District Attorney Guest said the State could rest its case today.

Boggs who is out of jail on bond faces 15 years in prison if convicted.
